Microsoft has launched a new promotional offer for Microsoft 365 Copilot, designed to help businesses begin their AI journey with Copilot. This initiative is aimed at making it easier for organisations to explore the benefits of AI-powered productivity tools. Starting 1st October 2025, the updated promotion will shift its focus towards new customer acquisition, to encourage organisations to take their first step into the world of AI with Copilot. This marks a strategic move to broaden adoption and make Copilot more accessible for organisations of all sizes that are yet to start utilising AI.
Why is The Copilot Promotion Changing?
Previously, Microsoft’s Copilot promotion allowed both new and existing tenants to benefit from a 15% discount on their subscription. If a tenant started a new subscription with at least 10 seats, they could lock in the discount for a full year.
While this was beneficial in helping partners increase the number of Copilot seats they were purchasing, the requirement of 10+ seats prevented many organisations from benefiting from the promotion as for smaller organisations or those just beginning their AI journey, this threshold was often too high.
To tackle this issue and make Copilot more appealing to first-time users, Microsoft is now shifting its focus to attract net-new customers who have never purchased Copilot before.
What Has Changed?
Starting from 1st October, only tenants that have not yet purchased a Copilot seat will be eligible to benefit from this promotion. Unlike the previous offer, which required a minimum of 10 seats, this updated promotion removes that barrier entirely.
The 15% discount remains the same, but it is now exclusively available to organisations that are completely new to Copilot. This change reflects Microsoft’s renewed focus on bringing fresh customers into the Copilot ecosystem and supporting them as they begin their journey with AI-powered tools.
How Will This Impact Businesses?
Existing tenants will not be able to access the 15% discount, even if they are planning to expand their Copilot footprint. Instead, this new promotion will be very beneficial to new businesses that haven’t yet had the opportunity to start their AI journey with Microsoft. Businesses can use this discount as a way to step foot into the world of AI without having to pay full price, making it more affordable as well as giving more runway for change management and budget for adoption services.
