Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 is an AI-powered productivity tool that integrates with everyday Microsoft 365 apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and more. It utilises large language models (LLMs) and content in Microsoft Graph to provide real-time intelligent assistance, enhancing the creativity, productivity, and skills of users.
As an MSP, this is a brilliant opportunity for you to offer your SMB customers a tool that was initially only available to large enterprises with Microsoft 365 E3 and E5 plans.
Copilot for SMBs
Microsoft has now expanded its offering making Copilot for Microsoft 365 available for all businesses, regardless of size. Customers with Microsoft 365 Business Premium and Business Standard plans can add Copilot and benefit from all its features from today. For more details on Copilot and its features, you can refer to our previous blog.
Microsoft has also removed the previous 300-seat minimum requirement for adding Copilot to a Microsoft 365 business subscription. This means even a single-person business can add Copilot with just one seat required.
Copilot Pro
On the same day as these announcements, Microsoft revealed Copilot Pro, which offers individuals more features and powerful access to the Copilot AI for $20 a month, compared to the current free version.
Copilot for Microsoft 365 Education
Last month, Microsoft also announced the availability of Copilot for Microsoft 365 for education faculty and staff.
To empower every organisation to become AI-powered, Microsoft is making three changes:
- Removing the 300-seat purchase minimum for Copilot for Microsoft 365 commercial plans.
- Removing the Microsoft 365 prerequisite for Copilot—so now, Office 365 E3 and E5 customers are eligible to purchase.
- Extending Semantic Index for Copilot to Office 365 users with a paid Copilot licence. Semantic Index works with the Copilot System and the Microsoft Graph to create a sophisticated map of all the data and content in your organisation—enabling Microsoft 365 Copilot to deliver personalised, relevant, and actionable responses.
These announcements come just one month after Microsoft announced that they are making Copilot for Microsoft 365 generally available to education customers with Microsoft 365 A3 or A5 faculty, and they are expanding that to include Office 365 A3 or A5 faculty with no seat minimum. While education licenses are not yet included in the CSP expansion announced today, Microsoft will share updates in the coming months.
